On Tuesday in Abuja, Abubakar Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate in the last election, along with the party, submitted documents to support their petition before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that one of the documents submitted by Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, counsel for the petitioners, was Form EC 8E, which is the definitive declaration of the winner’s result.
Jegede also submitted the Bimodal Voters Accreditation Systems (BVAS) report from all 36 states and the FCT.
In addition, he submitted Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)-certified documents regarding the number of registered electors and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
After submitting the documents, the court’s chief justice, Harun Tsammani, admitted them as evidence.
Consequently, Justice Tsammani adjourned the case until Wednesday for further proceedings.
According to NAN, Atiku and the PDP challenged the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as the victor of the presidential election held on February 25.
Atiku urged the court to declare him the winner of the election or, in the alternative, to declare the election null and void and order a new election due to alleged irregularities that marred the vote in thousands of polling units.
