The President’s team referred to some “mischievous insinuations” concerning the “innocuous water-mark” on copies of the combined Court of Appeal decision.
A copy of the tribunal’s judgement from last Wednesday that had “Tinubu’s Presidential Legal Team” (TPLT) in the header was circulating online. President Bola Tinubu’s legal team at the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) has denied what it calls “mischievous” assertions.
In a statement on Saturday, Babatunde OGALA (SAN), the coordinator of the TPLT, stated that it was necessary to provide clarity “following some mischievous insinuations being made in certain quarters regarding the innocent water-mark of copies of the consolidated judgement of the Court of Appeal.”
Ogala pointed out that following the Court of Appeal’s delivering of judgement in the three election petitions on Wednesday, the Court instructed its registry to make hard copies of the document available the following day.
The Tinubu Presidential Legal Team then requested a certified true copy of the aforementioned judgement and paid the required price. To collect the same judgement, PDP solicitors were present at the registry simultaneously, according to the statement.
In actuality, the PDP delegate obtained the first copy made accessible by the register.
As soon as we received our own copy, we scanned it and promptly watermarked it with the notation “Tinubu Presidential Legal Team ‘TPLT'” before sending the scanned soft copies to the attorneys on our team.

The certified true copies that the registrar provided to us and the other petitioners did not include the aforementioned inscription, and any suggestion to the contrary is incorrect.
As they possess identical certified copies of the judgement as we do, the petitioners’ counsel will likewise be grateful for the fact that the rumours spreading in some circles are inaccurate, cruel, unfair, and regrettable.
