Tinubu’s ex-minister, Lalong, officially becomes Senator
Simon Lalong, the former Minister of Labour and Employment, took the oath of office as a senator for Plateau South.
On Wednesday, Lalong, a former governor of Plateau State, took the oath of office on the Senate floor.

On Tuesday, the former minister submitted his resignation to President Bola Tinubu.
Lalong’s resignation was verified in a statement endorsed by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Special Advisor to the departing Minister on Media.
It was disclosed that on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the letter was delivered to Tinubu.
Lalong clarified that following protracted legal proceedings, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ordered to grant him the Certificate of Return and that the Court of Appeal had recognised him as the legitimate senator for the Plateau South Senatorial District.
He expressed his gratitude to the president for designating him as minister.
