Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party are running for president in 2023, and Bayo Onanuga, a former media adviser to President Bola Tinubu, has criticised their followers over their stance on the president’s certificate.
By bringing up Tinubu’s presence at Chicago State University, Onanuga claimed that Atiku and Obi’s followers are wasting their time and chasing their tails.
He insisted that the fact that Tinubu attended Chicago State University and earned a degree there in 1979 still stands.
Onanuga was responding to certain documents that a user of the social media site Twitter said the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or FBI, had claimed Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University.
“Supporters of Atiku and Peter Obi continue to chase shadows and waste time disputing President Tinubu’s attendance at Chicago State University,” he tweeted. He attended the institution and earned his degree in 1979, and that is the undeniable fact. I recognised this to be true as early as 1999.
“I went to the university as the editor-in-chief of my publication and obtained the initial letter of attestation regarding Tinubu’s graduation from the school’s registrar.
The document that you enthusiastically uploaded on the right side of the page reveals your ignorance and hostility. The University of Chicago is mentioned, not CSU. Could you and your band kindly give President Tinubu a moment to breathe so he can handle the important work of governance?
