Tinubu’s speech on EndBadGovernance left Dele Momodu shocked. Discover his reaction and the reasons behind it.
Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine expressed his surprise at President Bola Tinubu’s address to the nation on Sunday morning.
Momodu posted on X that the ongoing protests across the country’s demands were not addressed by the President.
On Sunday, Tinubu spoke to Nigerians three days after the commencement of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstrations.
The demonstrators put forth a number of requests, encompassing the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, enhancements to their quality of life, reductions in governance expenses and electricity rates. Additionally they sought solutions for rising insecurity issues amongst others.
Momodu responded to Tinubu’s broadcast, stating that upon hearing the President Bola Tinubu’s speech this morning after much anticipation, many would likely feel as bewildered as he did.
Admittedly, I did not expect Tinubu to make any compromises with the discontented Nigerians. With a firm hold on Lagos State for two and a half decades, it would be challenging for him to alter his successful tactics.
Furthermore, considering that his advisers hail mostly from Lagos and have a track record of being staunch sycophants who never dare question the leader, what kind of guidance did we anticipate them to provide him with?
Being an incurable optimist, I had wished for mercy upon the hapless and seemingly helpless Nigerians from him; however, it was merely wishful thinking.
