On June 22 and 23, the President will attend a two-day meeting in France with other world leaders.
On June 22, 2023, President Bola Tinubu will embark on his first official journey outside of Nigeria since taking office on May 29, 2023.
According to Dele Alake, the President’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy, he will travel to Paris, France, to meet with world leaders.
The President will review and sign a New Global Financial Pact with other world leaders, according to a statement released by Alake on Monday. This comes in response to the devastating effects of climate change, the energy crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Summit will take place in Palais Brongniart and be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The two-day Summit, according to the President’s adviser, will examine ways to give fiscal space back to nations that are struggling financially in the short term, especially the most indebted; mobilize creative financing for nations vulnerable to climate change; promote development in low-income countries; and encourage investment in “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.
Senior government officials and members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council will go with the President. On Saturday, he will return to Abuja, according to Alake.
At the State House in Abuja, the President met with African business magnate Aliko Dangote and Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, on Monday.
The Gates Foundation is dedicated to working directly with communities and leaders to encourage innovation and debate global health and development with national and local leaders. The visit was a part of that commitment.
