Ahmad Gumi, a well-known Islamic scholar, has been charged by former aviation minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode for attempting to incite religious and ethnic conflict in Nigeria.
In light of this, Fani-Kayode stated that he need to be warned from trying to ruin Nigeria in this way.
Remember that the cleric had declared that Nigeria could not afford to give Christians the job of protecting the nation.
He said as much in a sermon, saying that President Bola Tinubu would not be able to serve a second term in office if certain conditions were not met.
His remarks were made following a meeting between Israeli envoy and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja.
Wike spoke with guests about the security situation in Abuja.
Feeling betrayed by the meeting, Gumi demanded Wike’s dismissal, emphasising his intention to turn Abuja into Tel Aviv.
Fani-Kayode reacted by urging the Federal Government to warn Gumi about his statements.
The call was made by the leader of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, in a two-and-a-half-page piece that was published on Sunday.
“Regardless of your opinion of him, one thing is certain: Gumi is attempting to start a religious and ethnic conflict in Nigeria, and someone needs to call him to order before it’s too late,” the piece states in part.
