Tinubu Vows to Reduce Prices of Rice and Other Foods

Discover Tinubu’s pledge to reduce prices of rice and other foods, focusing on making essential items more affordable.

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has declared plans to enforce measures aimed at lowering the costs of vital commodities, including food products and medications all over Nigeria.

During his national speech on Sunday, Tinubu announced that he has instructed the elimination of tariffs and other fees associated with importing food items and medicine.

His objective is to increase accessibility for these products amongst Nigerians by making them more cost-effective.

Tinubu announced that farmers will be rewarded for elevating food production while keeping prices within budget.

To aid the cause, he has instructed six months of waived tariffs and import duties on rice, wheat, maize, sorghum as well as medical supplies such as drugs and pharmaceuticals to alleviate cost burdens.

Partnerships with state governors were highlighted by the President as crucial to improving food production.

He brought up the continuous dispersal of fertilizers and his objective to cultivate more than 10 million hectares of land in order to enhance domestic food production.

He added that the collaboration with governors and key ministers has been aimed at hastening food production. While states provide land for cultivation, the Federal Government will offer incentives to create jobs and boost agricultural output.

Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria has procured advanced farming equipment, including tractors and planters worth billions of Naira from the United States, Belarus, and Brazil. The said machinery is presently on its way to Nigeria.

Tinubu implored Nigerians to discontinue protests concerning economic difficulties and instead participate in discussions as a means of resolution.

He restated his dedication to establishing a fair and prosperous country, upheld by transparent, accountable democratic leadership.

Tinubu concluded that our economy’s long-standing issues have caused tremendous struggles. Short-term solutions are no longer feasible, and we must embrace sustainable remedies for the betterment of both present and future generations.
