President Bola Tinubu pledges to fully support and strengthen the military by ensuring they are well-equipped and armed, emphasizing his commitment to national security and defense.

He recognized the crucial role of strategic leadership in tackling Nigeria’s multifaceted security and development predicaments.
President Tinubu pledged during Friday’s graduation ceremony for Course 32 participants at the National Defence College Abuja, as confirmed by a statement signed by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President).
The President, although absent from the event and instead represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, expressed dismay over the inadequate infrastructure present at Piwoyi’s National Defence College permanent site. Despite significant strides made during his administration’s tenure in addressing this issue, he acknowledged that there remains a considerable amount of work to be done within the school.
Thus, he reiterated his administration’s dedication to guaranteeing the continued progress and improvement of the facilities at the permanent location.
The President pledged to provide the country’s military with weapons and gear, declaring that “During my tenure, Nigerian Armed Forces’ members have demonstrated incredible dedication and accomplished noteworthy successes in safeguarding our land borders as well as ensuring the safety of our people and their property.”
“I commit to utilizing my constitutional authority in order to ensure that the Nigerian military is properly equipped and capable” – President Tinubu expressed appreciation for Course 32 graduates’ valuable insights, which were integral in his study focused on generating “strategic avenues towards leveraging Nigeria’s mining industry for the improvement of national security and progress.”
He added that they are currently implementing the basics of your suggestions in preparation for achieving their golden age vision, equipped with extensive security resources and strengthened partnerships facilitated by institutional restructuring.
The President commended the National Defense College’s distinct approach to integrating information across various themes, citing its success in devising lasting resolutions for Nigeria and beyond with regard to security concerns and developmental issues within Africa.
The President emphasized the notable achievements carried out by his administration towards addressing national challenges. Amongst these, he mentioned the introduction of a new minimum wage across Nigeria which will not only benefit civilian workers but also extend to Nigerian Armed Forces staff as well as other security agencies.

My directive to the Defence Headquarters and other security agencies is focused on putting a stop to this menace promptly. The graduates of Course 32 were urged by President Tinubu to maintain their commitment to excellence, courage, patriotism and integrity. In addition, he encouraged them to employ the knowledge and expertise they gained during training as a means of tackling the numerous issues confronting Nigeria.
Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, the Commandant of National Defence College, recently announced that Nigeria will benefit from the strategic leadership skills of 111 graduates across a range of sectors.
“Our aim,” he stated, “is to prepare upcoming strategic leaders with the essential knowledge and analytical abilities needed to effectively leverage national resources in a rapidly evolving defense and security landscape.”
Course 32 participants will achieve this objective by completing a 9-module curriculum that covers various subject areas, including research methodology, science and technology, conflict and war studies, policy formulation analysis as well as strategic leadership.
Graduates from various national agencies and institutions like the Nigerian armed forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Security as well as several ministries constituted class 32.
The class was distinguished by the presence of 19 international participants hailing from India, Brazil, South Africa, and Ghana. This reflects Nigeria’s dedication to promoting worldwide collaboration in matters pertaining to defense and security.
Attending the graduation ceremony were distinguished individuals, among them Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru; Mr. Wale Edun, who holds dual positions as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy; Bello Muhammed Matawalle, serving as both a minister and State Defense representative; General Christopher Musa in his role as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja fulfilling duties as Chief Army Staff (COAS); Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar acting in capacity as Chief Air Staff (CAS); Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla delegated to represent the post of Chief Naval Staff (CNS), along with other notable attendees such Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi- The Ooni Of Ife or flanked by former Delta state Governor James Ibori amidst many others present at this eventful occasion.
