President Bola Tinubu emphasized that his administration will tackle the economic challenges faced by citizens, despite not possessing a magical solution, during a gathering with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2024 Ramadan Iftar at the State House.
Since the elimination of the petrol subsidy scheme and the currency rate harmonization in 2023, the country has witnessed a steady rise in inflation rates, with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reporting an increase to 31.7 percent in February 2024 from 29.9 percent in the previous month.
Tinubu expressed confidence in the country’s improving revenue generation capacity, highlighting the hard work required to deliver on the promises made during the campaign period and the necessity to address challenges such as inflation through strategic economic measures.
The president assured that efforts are being made to reengineer the economy and enhance revenue generation, emphasizing the need for collective dedication, resourcefulness, and hard work to overcome obstacles and achieve positive outcomes for the nation.
Tinubu also underscored the importance of self-reliance and national sovereignty, stating that Nigeria is regaining respect globally through its internal efforts and the commitment of its citizens to drive progress and development independently.
