President Tinubu has made new appointments to key positions, signaling a fresh direction in government leadership.
President Bola Tinubu has made a major move toward creating the North West Development Commission (NWDC) by forwarding the names of its initial Governing Board members to the Senate for approval.
This step follows the President’s recent signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on July 24, further advancing efforts to establish the Commission focused on enhancing the region’s socio-economic development.

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced that Tinubu has nominated Amb. Haruna Gindau from Jigawa as Board Chairman. Furthermore, Prof. Abdullahi Ma’aji from Kano has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO).
Additional significant nominations for the Board consist of Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe from Sokoto, Hon. Aminu Suleiman representing Kebbi, and Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura hailing from Zamfara. The President further proposed Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna), Hon.-Engr Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa) as board members.
The newly appointed members are anticipated to leverage their experience and knowledge to further the Commission’s mission of promoting development throughout the North-West region.
The NWDC’s goal is to foster economic growth, social development, and empowerment in the region. The statement highlighted the President’s commitment to assisting the Commission in reaching its developmental objectives.
