Tinubu to Leverage AI in Combating Insecurity by 2025, Says Jimoh Ibrahim
Senator reveals President Tinubu’s plans to incorporate artificial intelligence into Nigeria’s security strategy in 2025, aiming for advanced solutions to tackle insecurity.
Jimoh Ibrahim, the lawmaker for Ondo South Senatorial District, stated on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu’s administration plans to use technology to address the country’s security issues.
Ibrahim, who serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, announced that by 2025, the government plans to utilize artificial technology to address issues of insecurity. He noted this initiative in relation to Tinubu’s budget proposal, which allocates ₦4.91 trillion for defense and security.
The member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated that the upcoming year would be challenging for criminals, as the current administration intends to create apps aimed at tracking down bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists.
“He plans to use AI against the security personnel to create challenges for them,” was stated on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
On Wednesday, President Tinubu presented the ₦49.7 trillion budget proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly, with significant allocations directed towards security and defense, infrastructure, health, and education.
The President highlighted parts of the budget, including ₦4.91 trillion for defense and security, ₦4.06 trillion for infrastructure, ₦2.4 trillion for health, and ₦3.5 trillion for education, among other allocations.
During the interview, Ibrahim contended that allocating approximately ₦5 trillion to security could significantly transform the nation’s economic fortunes.
“If he can achieve that with ₦5 trillion, it would generate additional revenue by increasing our crude oil production. This approach leads to greater earnings.”
“If we allocate N5 trillion to security, it would lead to greater peace and increased oil production,” Jimoh suggested.
Nigeria is facing security challenges on multiple fronts, yet the lawmaker has given the Federal Government a high rating in this area. He asserts that indicators demonstrate an improvement in the country’s security situation.
The lawmaker stated that security forces have exerted significant effort to guarantee that Boko Haram terrorists do not control any towns or cities.
