Concerns over possible manipulation by interest groups in his administration’s current economic reforms have been addressed by President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu addressed Islamic leaders at the State House on Thursday, highlighting that he financed his election campaign entirely independently and without any ties to an individual or organization.
Tinubu confirmed that he financed his campaign entirely using his personal funds. He acknowledged facing daunting challenges at times due to bank closures, but attributed divine intervention as the reason for becoming President. Tinubu declared it is now incumbent upon him to adhere to God’s guidance.
Emphasizing the significance of having a clear conscience in leadership, Tinubu emphasized how it serves as an armor against corruption. He urged individuals to prioritize their children’s future and encourage qualities such as responsible citizenship within them.
The Head of State cautioned against demonstrations fueled by fury and animosity, stating that such actions may instigate aggression and impede the nation’s advancement.

He unveiled proposals to transform the social welfare program by expanding assistance at a local level to directly assist impoverished individuals.
Moreover, he cited various programs like educational loans for students, financial support for purchasing vehicles or homes, and an extensive hike in minimum wage rates as part of his agenda.
Tinubu stated that the organizers behind these demonstrations lack a genuine concern for the country’s welfare.
He accused them of holding allegiances to other countries and conducting remote gatherings. It is important not to repeat Sudan’s history in Nigeria, he added.
Rather than inciting unrest, we should aim at dealing with hunger issues proactively.
Sheikh Bala Lau gave assurance to the President that he will continue to provide support for peace through prayer and efforts.
Lau commented that peace is crucial for our country. He compared it to Abraham seeking guidance and tranquility from God, saying we also strive for the same.
