Tinubu asserts to Islamic leaders that he personally financed his 2023 election campaign, dismissing any cabal involvement. Get the full story.
Addressing concerns about potential manipulation by interest groups in his administration’s ongoing economic reforms, President Bola Tinubu spoke up.
Tinubu stressed to Islamic leaders at the State House on Thursday that his election campaign had been financed entirely by himself and was not indebted to any person or institution.
Tinubu declared that he solely funded his campaign, even during seemingly unsurmountable times when banks were closed. Through Allah’s grace, he was elected as President and now intends to abide by divine guidance.
Stressing on the significance of possessing a guilt-free mind in leadership, Tinubu emphasized its potential to guard against corrupt practices. He urged people to give precedence to the well-being of their progeny and instill principles of upright conduct and accountability.
The President cautioned against protests fueled by anger and hatred, citing potential for violence and impeding the nation’s advancement. He proposed reorganizing social welfare to offer direct assistance to impoverished individuals at the ward level. Furthermore, he outlined various plans such as student loans for education, consumer credit options for buying homes or vehicles, and a substantial hike in minimum wage rates.
Tinubu claimed that the protestors’ sponsors are not dedicated to the well-being of Nigeria. They have hidden agendas and communicate through online meetings outside the country. Tinubu stressed that it is crucial for Nigerians to avoid a situation similar to Sudan’s unrest by focusing on tackling hunger instead of promoting violence.
Sheikh Bala Lau promised the President that he would continue to lend his support through prayer and by making every effort to foster peace.
“We consider peace to be a fundamental necessity for our country,” stated Lau. “Similar to how Abraham requested guidance and peacefulness from God, we also seek the same.”
