The Forum expressed their willingness to work with President Bola Tinubu and stated that there will be a chance for discussion and agreement on the difficult matter.
The Forum said in a statement released on Monday by Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, who is the senatorial district representative for Kano South, that legal action will be taken in the event that negotiations are unsuccessful.
He emphasised that no one should be concerned about the transfer of the important government departments and gave his word that the Forum will act in accordance with the 1999 Constitution as modified.
“We will engage the executive branch of government, the leadership of the Senate, and the relevant stakeholders to actively listen to the concerns of Nigerians and provide updates on our progress,” stated group spokesperson Senator Kawu Sumaila.
“We are dedicated to tackling imbalances in the distribution and allocation of resources in the 2024 budget, as well as the transfer of certain federal agencies from Abuja to Lagos, as representatives of the people at the national level (Senate).”
He said that the government’s policies contained certain inequities, which the Forum would not ignore but would instead correct through financial provisions.
