Tinubu To Attend G20 Summit In Brazil, Aims To Strengthen Global Partnerships
President Bola Tinubu is set to participate in the G20 Summit in Brazil, focusing on fostering international collaboration and exploring economic opportunities for Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday to attend the 19th G20 Leaders Summit scheduled for November 18 and 19.
The summit, initiated by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will convene leaders from the world’s major economies to discuss vital global issues.
In a statement released on Sunday, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga revealed this information.
He mentioned that the focus of this year’s summit will be on “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” highlighting important discussions around global poverty, hunger, energy transition, and sustainable development.
Tinubu is anticipated to advocate for the reform of global governance institutions, a cause that Nigeria has consistently supported.
Onanuga stated, “This year’s meeting, themed ‘Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,’ will involve discussions on combating hunger and poverty, reforming global governance institutions, and promoting sustainable development alongside energy transition.”
Nigeria has consistently championed the reform of global governing bodies and frequently highlighted its impressive qualifications as a strong candidate for a permanent position on the United Nations Security Council.
The President is also anticipated to participate in one-on-one discussions with other global leaders during the event.
These discussions will concentrate on promoting Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms, with a particular emphasis on agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.
The President will be joined by a high-ranking delegation that includes Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mukhtar Maiha, the Minister of Livestock Development; and Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Arts, Tourism, Culture and Creativity.
