Tinubu sows seeds for transformation in 100 days—FG
Despite the evident difficulties Nigerians experience every day, the Federal Government claims that in his first 100 days in office, President Bola Tinubu has sown the seeds of the country’s transformation, progress, and all-around development.
This was mentioned in a statement released on Tuesday to commemorate President Tinubu’s 100th day in office by Mallam Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation.
In a statement that he personally signed and distributed to newsmen in Abuja, the minister made a plea for Nigerians in general and the labour unions in particular to continue supporting the administration and exhibit more understanding.
According to NAN, Tinubu reached the milestone of 100 days in office on Tuesday. He took office on May 29 after being named the victor of the 2023 presidential election.
The minister stated that since taking office, Tinubu’s administration has been steadily advancing and inspiring national renewal.
He claimed that Tinubu bravely decided to end the fuel subsidy in order to prevent an epic national economic catastrophe after knowing the country was in a precarious situation due to both domestic and foreign indebtedness.
A “Sword of Damocles that hung over Nigeria for decades, stunted growth, and set the country a-borrowing,” the minister said of the abandoned fuel subsidy.
“To prevent an epic national economic calamity, President Tinubu made the brave and gutsy choice to end the fuel subsidy.
“President Tinubu took additional measures to converge the various foreign exchange markets in addition to eliminating subsidies.
President Tinubu has never failed in his call to Nigerians to view the present problems as a price we must all pay to rescue our country from disintegrating, he said. “While these two vital steps to save the country from hitting the rocks brought momentary discomfort to Nigerians, President Tinubu has never failed in his appeal to Nigerians to see the current inconveniences as a price we must all pay to save our country from hitting the rocks.”
The minister claimed that in order to lessen the suffering, the government launched intervention activities to help mitigate the unanticipated negative effects of the reforms.
He said that the measures included establishing a minimum wage and raising salaries, aiding state and municipal governments in their efforts to care for the most needy, and giving farmers fertilisers.
In addition to deploying over 11,000 CNG buses for accessible public transport, he said that the government also gave people access to cereals.
“While attempting to lessen how much the high expense of living affects the populace, President Tinubu has concentrated on rerouting our economy and removing barriers to productivity and competitiveness.
“With these, the real sector will grow and create millions of decent jobs that are essential for long-term economic growth,” he said.
The minister said, “In the last 100 days, the government established a Tax and Fiscal Reforms Committee that is actively working to deepen the ongoing reforms and reposition the national economy for long-term sustainability.”
He claimed that the committee will reduce many taxes, simplify rules that hinder company ease, and close the over $20 trillion yearly tax gap in addition to simplifying the nation’s complex tax structure.
The minister pledged that the administration will increase tax collection efficiency, widen the tax base by making sure that those who are not paying taxes are made to do so and that those who are not paying the correct amount are made to pay their fair part.
Idris stated that on the political front, the administration had strived to advance political stability in order to foster peace, growth, and development in just 100 days.
By better managing our diversity, the administration has helped to stabilise the political system and lower tensions brought on by racial and religious unrest.
President Tinubu made sure that there was balance in all the nominations to important positions in the government, including those of service chiefs from all regions of the nation, in order to build the ties of social harmony and national unity.
“While advancing peace and political stability within the nation by enlisting the support of every sector of our nation, the President likewise places a high priority on providing proper information on governmental operations and policy direction.
Idris claimed that on the international stage, the president became the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government during his first 100 days in office.
He said the president has done a commendable job of raising Nigeria’s profile both internationally and inside the West African region.
In particular, he claimed Tinubu has been advancing the rule of law, upholding constitutional order, and acting as a barrier against military meddling in politics, particularly in Niger, where a democratic government was just overthrown.
“Nigeria continues to command the respect of the rest of the globe, and this is not by chance. It is so because President Tinubu has stood firmly and morally up for the ideas of democracy, the rule of law, and good administration.
According to him, the president travelled to India for the G20 summit with a select delegation of cabinet ministers and more than 30 entrepreneurs from a variety of economic sectors in an effort to revitalise and revive the country’s economy.
According to the minister, the effort demonstrates Nigeria’s willingness to engage in genuine collaboration for long-term economic growth.
The minister stated that the President has been steadfastly executing his “Renewed Hope Agenda” for a better and greater Nigeria ever since taking office. The President had been at his duty station.
He emphasised that in the past 100 days, Tinubu’s administration has provided deliberate leadership and established the administration’s tone, texture, and character.
