Because they couldn’t access their money, folks had strokes and died at the time. And because you and I are still alive, shouldn’t we not be concerned about those who perished from causes not of their own making?
President-elect Bola Tinubu has been encouraged by Senator Smart Adeyemi to interview CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele and others engaged in the redesign of the naira.
The Kogi West senator based his justification on the suffering Nigerians through as a result of the harshly criticized procedure.
When asked on Friday what he would do about the naira redesign policy if he were Tinubu, he said, “I will call on Emefiele and others to come and explain what happened and what was the reason behind the redesigning of the naira notes.”
The senator criticized the chaos that was erupting due to the scarcity of the newly designed naira notes on Friday’s episode of Channels Television Politics Today.
Because they couldn’t access their money, folks had strokes and died at the time. And if you and I both lived, shouldn’t we not be concerned about those who perished from causes not of their own making?
According to him, some individuals were murdered unintentionally by the policy because of the circumstances at the time.
He said that the currency redesign was a deliberate effort to thwart Tinubu’s presidential aspirations and that the judiciary’s proactiveness spared Nigeria from turmoil.
Tinubu must remember this. Due to the deliberate endeavor made at the time to prevent the APC from winning. We were informed that the naira has been changed now that we have prevailed in order to prevent a repeat, but where are the new notes that have been redesigned?
“They lose circulation gradually. Those in charge of the redesign of the naira notes assured us that there will be enough of the new notes in circulation in two weeks.
But up to this point, he observed, “the so-called redesigned notes are disappearing,” months after the Supreme Court’s ruling.
However, he said that when Tinubu’s presidency begins on Monday, May 29th, Nigerians should prepare for a new nation.
