The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) G5 member Wike has had a strained relationship with Atiku Abubakar, the party’s nominee.
The G5 is composed of five PDP governors from southern Nigeria who are dissatisfied, including Wike, Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).
The five governors have consistently demanded that Iyorchia Ayu resign as PDP national chairman before they will back Atiku’s bid for the presidency.
