President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate three crucial gas infrastructure projects currently being carried out by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its partners.

As per a statement released on Friday, May 3, by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the execution of these projects aligns with the president’s dedication to utilizing gas as a means to boost the economy significantly.

The statement elaborated that these projects are in support of the federal government’s initiative to maximize the value of the country’s gas resources while putting an end to gas flaring.

It was mentioned that the completion of these projects has been expedited since the beginning of the administration to enhance the domestic gas supply, which is crucial for economic growth.

One of the projects is the AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 (GPP – 2) – 200mmscf/d, an extension of the Kwale Gas Processing Plant (GPP – 1), currently supplying approximately 130MMscf/d of gas to the local market.

The processing plant is designed to handle 200MMscf/d of rich gas and transport lean gas through the OB3 Gas Pipeline.

Additionally, the increased gas supply will further bolster the industrialization process in Nigeria.

The plant is expected to produce around 160,000 MTPA of Propane and 100,000 MTPA of Butane, reducing the need for LPG imports, as stated by the presidency.

The AHL Gas Plant is a project undertaken by AHL Limited, a Joint Venture owned by NNPC Limited and SEEPCO.

The second project scheduled for commissioning is the ANOH Gas Processing Plant (AGPC) – 300MMscf/d, an integrated gas processing plant with a capacity of 300MMscf/d designed to process non-associated gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field in Imo State, producing dry gas, condensate, and LPG.

The ANOH Gas Plant, a joint venture between NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Plc, is set to significantly boost domestic gas supply, thereby enhancing power generation and accelerating industrialization.

This project includes the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project, which entails the construction of a 36”x23.3km gas pipeline to transport dry gas from the ANOH primary treatment facility to the OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station for further distribution into the OB3 pipeline system.

With an estimated capacity of 600MMscf/d from two production trains, this initiative is expected to increase gas supply to the domestic market by approximately 500mmscf/d, fostering a conducive investment environment and supporting overall economic growth.
