President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate a one-day national discussion on security and state police, organized by the House of Representatives on Monday, April 22.
The House, as stated by its spokesperson Akintunde Rotimi, aims to foster an extensive national conversation on the advantages and obstacles of state police, focusing on gathering the opinions and perspectives of citizens.
This event is a collaborative effort between the House of Representatives, the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), FCDO/UKAID, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Rotimi highlighted that the dialogue also seeks to suggest models, institutional structures, and legal frameworks for the efficient implementation of state policing in Nigeria.
Emphasizing the alignment with the Legislative Agenda of the 10th Assembly House of Representatives, which aims to create legislative measures to tackle the current security issues in Nigeria, the dialogue complements the president’s ongoing initiatives to revamp and fortify the country’s security system for optimal functionality.
