On Friday, President Bola Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Nigerian governors for their unanimous support of the four Tax Reform Bills being reviewed by the National Assembly.

A statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, praised Thursday’s productive consultation between the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Presidential Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy. It highlighted this collaboration as a commendable example of cooperation between federal and state governments.

He offers special commendations to Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, for effectively rallying support among his colleagues for these transformative tax bills aimed at revitalizing the national economy and improving Nigeria’s investment climate.

He also praises the Progressive Governors Forum, the Northern Governors Forum, and all other groups that contributed to achieving a bipartisan resolution of the controversy sparked by the tax bills.

President Tinubu emphasizes that the main objective of the pro-poor Tax Reform Bills is to advance national interests, enhance Nigeria’s economic competitiveness, and attract investments from both local and international sources.

He stated that revising the nation’s outdated tax laws is crucial to this effort.
