The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) used sensitive materials for the administration of the presidential election on February 25, and the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, is asking the Court of Appeal to grant him access to those files.
In order to prepare his defence against petitions that aim to invalidate Tinubu’s election, his attorney, Akintola Makinde, stated that he would need to examine, scan, and make duplicates of some of the electoral materials.
At the day’s sitting on Tuesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, Makinde made this declaration.
In order to allow Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to review the materials used in the 2016 presidential election, the INEC had petitioned the Presidential Election Petition Court to change the orders.
Onyechi Ikpeazu, counsel for the LP, stated during the day’s session that his team needed to physically inspect the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in order to conduct a forensic inspection.

They further requested that the evidence be saved before it is assembled by INEC.
Tanimu Inuwa, an attorney for INEC, requested that the application be denied because it would seriously delay the March 11 governorship election.
He continued by saying that there are 176,000 polling places throughout the nation, and each one has a different BVAS system that needs to be configured. It will be extremely challenging for them to do so quickly.
Having sent the data to their backend server, he guaranteed that none would be lost.

In order to overcome Atiku, who received a total of 6,984,520 votes, and Obi, who received a total of 6,101,533 votes, Tinubu amassed a total of 8,794,726 votes, according to INEC.
