President Tinubu reappoints Sheshe and Bara as Chief Medical Directors of Aminu Kano and ATBU Teaching Hospitals. Learn more about this decision.
Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe has been granted a second four-year term as the Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, commencing on December 5, 2023. This reappointment was endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Announcing this decision was Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
Since December 6, 2019, Professor Sheshe has been leading the hospital with competence. His reappointment attests to the trust and belief that the President holds in his leadership skills and vital contributions towards improving healthcare in Kano State.
Furthermore, for a second and conclusive tenure of four years, President Tinubu has selected Professor Yusuf Jibrin Bara to remain as the Chief Medical Director of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.

After a comprehensive evaluation of Professor Jibrin Bara’s performance during his previous term, he has been reappointed with the anticipation that he will continue to progress on the accomplishments made thus far.
Additionally, the Nasarawa State Government has requested and received approval from the President to convert Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital located in Lafia into a Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital. This conversion is aimed at improving healthcare delivery within the state while also enhancing training opportunities for students pursuing medical and allied sciences.
Ngelale accentuated President Tinubu’s dedication to securing the social welfare and healthcare of Nigerians, by underscoring continued attempts to enhance investments in the healthcare industry.
The goal of the administration is to establish a strong healthcare system that sufficiently caters to the needs of people.
