Governor Oyebanji visited the communities of Esun-Ekiti and Imojo-Ekiti on Tuesday morning, delivering the message from the president.
The state’s security leaders joined the governor, who also convened an emergency meeting with the heads of the state’s security agencies very early in the morning.
While on the tour, Governor Oyebanji expressed his sympathies to the leaders and indigenous people of the two villages, meeting with them in their respective palaces.
Oyebanji emphasised that the two assassinated kings were revered traditional leaders with a track record of selfless service to their respective communities and that the state administration will work with the appropriate authorities to make sure that their killers suffered the consequences for their horrific act.
“I promise that these monarchs’ deaths wouldn’t have been in vain. The offenders would be found and given the harshest penalty possible.
“The state administration and I both received condolences from President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during our conversation from France. The President supports us in this and has instructed pertinent officials in particular.
“He asked me to assure you that the criminals will face consequences for their actions. He promised that the kidnapped students will be released by security personnel.
Oyebanji declared, “We will work with traditional institutions and pertinent agencies to make the state too hot for criminals.”
Speaking during the governor’s visit to Esun-Ekiti, community elders said that, given the manner of the horrific death, their monarch, Oba David Babtunde Ogunsola, may have been the victim of an assassination.
They described the late Oba as a great lover of his people who put their security and prosperity first, and they encouraged the governor to see to it that justice was done in the issue.
Imojo-Ekiti community leaders praised the governor for his prompt response and visit. They said that Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, the late king, supported the town’s growth and cared for his people’s security.
During the governor’s visit, they expressed their gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for his choice to assume responsibility for the education and raising of the late monarch’s five small children.
Following his visit to the Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro, the Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Governor Oyebanji set a significant meeting with all traditional rulers for Wednesday morning in their council chamber in Ado-Ekiti.
