The President stated that current and emerging security concerns in the West African subregion need countries to collaborate in order to bring peace to the Lake Chad region.

President Bola Tinubu has stated that his administration will use the entire apparatus of state authority to safeguard the safety of Nigerians’ lives and property.

Tinubu made the pledge during a speech at the Senior Course 45 graduation ceremony of the Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State, on Friday.

He restated his administration’s resolve to appropriately equip the Nigerian Armed Forces to allow them to carry out their obligations of defending citizens’ lives and property both nationally and worldwide.

The President also warned them about the sensitive nature of the current security situation, which he believes necessitates new plans and practises to counter unconventional Forces.

Tinubu stated that current and emerging security concerns in the West African subregion require member states to collaborate in order to bring peace to the Lake Chad region.

The 48-week Senior Course 45 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in the North-Western state graduated 291 officers who distinguished themselves in character and learning.

The President was accompanied by Senator Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser.

All of the service chiefs, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and members of the Diplomatic Corps were also present.

Among the graduating officers were 265 Nigerian Armed Forces officers, 12 civilians from ministries and agencies, and 15 others from allied African and Asian countries.

Some officers who excelled during the training got commendation certificates from President Obama, who attended the graduation for the first time since taking office in May.

Tinubu underlined the urgent need for collaboration among member nations to bring about peace in the Lake Chad area, which is grappling with diverse security problems, in response to the multinational makeup of graduates and participants in the course at the Command and Staff College.

The President also believes that Nigeria and the Lake Chad region’s neighbouring countries must be courageous in reforming their military doctrine and practises, even as he pledged his administration’s commitment to deploying the full range of state power to ensure the adequate security of the people and their possessions.

Tinubu’s speech emphasised the importance of enhancing the African Armed Forces and other partner nations’ capacities, recognising the dynamic and evolving nature of security challenges.

The Command and Staff College’s Senior Course is meant to prepare these military commanders for greater duties, particularly in the face of existing and emerging security threats.
