President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing a comprehensive assessment of the pay of the nation’s judicial officials.

At a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by its president Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu made this statement.

In a statement released on Friday, Ajuri Ngelale, the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, said that the president had stated that the fight against corruption necessitated a thorough assessment of their pay and benefits.

Given his historic accomplishment in overhauling the judiciary and administrative systems in Lagos State while serving as the state governor, Tinubu said that he was well aware of the problem.

If we’re going to effectively combat corruption in the judiciary, we need to address the evaluation of compensation. In response to the NBA president’s request, he said, “We will consider both the costs and the effects.

In addition, Tinubu emphasised the necessity of filling the current vacancies on the Supreme Court, citing the National Judicial Council’s recommendations as the basis for his remarks.

“The majority of them are currently on vacation, and when they get back, we’ll look at what they have and fill the positions. It’s the completion of a duty, he remarked.

The NBA invited the President to inaugurate the organization’s 63rd Annual General Conference (AGC), which will take place on Sunday in Abuja. The President thanked the NBA for the invitation.

Including his chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila, the state chief of protocol Victor Adeleke, and his principal private secretary Prince Damilotun Aderemi, he stated his happiness at having lawyers as close advisers.
