Tinubu presents national award to Ijebu monarch

President Bola Tinubu has bestowed the prestigious Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, Nigeria’s second highest national honor, upon Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland.

This recognition is a testament to Oba Sikiru Adetona’s immeasurable and invaluable contributions to the development of the nation.

The ceremony took place during the paramount ruler’s 90th birthday celebration at the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance, located at Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

Representing the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima announced that the management of the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance will now be overseen by the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos.

This decision was made in recognition of the royal father’s generous bequest of the school to the university.

President Bola Tinubu praised the Awujale as an exceptional royal figure and a champion of Nigeria’s democracy, admired throughout the country for his unwavering dedication and bravery.
