Muslims in Nigeria celebrated Eid-El-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast, along with Muslims worldwide. President Bola Tinubu joined fellow Muslim faithful at the Dodan Barracks Mosque in Lagos for the Eid-El-Fitr prayer.

Notable dignitaries present included the deputy governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, and former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola. The Chief Imam of Lagos, Shiekh Suleiman Abdussallah, emphasized the importance of sacrifice, unity, and tolerance during the festive period. President Tinubu, in his address to the press, urged Nigerians to remain resilient, patriotic, and hopeful.

He stressed the need to protect the integrity of the government and leadership, emphasizing that hope is essential for salvation, development, and life.

State governors also called for forgiveness, peace, and tolerance among Nigerians, urging prayers for the nation and its leaders. Eid-El-Fitr, which signifies the “festival of breaking fast,” commenced on March 11 with the start of the Ramadan fast and concluded on Tuesday after the moon was not sighted on Monday. Saudi Arabia and the Sultan of Sokoto declared Wednesday as the official day for Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.
