A group of marketers said they will donate between fifty and one hundred 50-seater mass transport buses to the general public at a Wednesday meeting with the president.
The National Economic Council (NEC), headed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, has been instructed by President Bola Tinubu to devise a strategy and start developing interventions to lessen the impact of subsidy removal on Nigerians.
After leading some significant oil marketers on a courtesy visit to the president at the White House, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun made this statement.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, former chairman of the Oil Marketers Association Governor Abiodun said that the marketers had sided with the President in support of his decision to eliminate the 4 trillion naira subsidy burden, which might increase the FAAC allocation to states.
On Wednesday, a group of marketers told the president they planned to donate 50 to 100 “50-seater” mass transit buses to the underprivileged.
To mitigate the impact of the subsidy removal within the next 30 days, this is anticipated to cost around 100 million naira per person and 10 billion naira overall.
The marketers emphasized their desire for other corporate entities to follow their lead.
