President Bola Tinubu expressed his sincere congratulations to fathers and paternal figures throughout the country on the occasion of Father’s Day.

He acknowledged their significant contributions in shaping the future of the nation through sacrifice, provision, protection, and guidance. In a statement released by his special adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of instilling values in children that go beyond material wealth. He urged fathers to pass down pristine values that cannot be provided by money or material comfort.

Reflecting on the history of Father’s Day, the President highlighted its origins in the Middle Ages and its official recognition beginning in West Virginia, USA, in 1908. Initially established to honor the men who lost their lives in a coal mining explosion, Father’s Day now serves as a celebration of all fathers, both living and deceased, as well as those who have acted as father figures. President Tinubu emphasized the importance of fathers embracing their responsibilities and guiding their children through life’s challenges, preparing them for the future.

He stressed the necessity of fathers exemplifying values such as discipline, integrity, service, respect, love, and loyalty to the nation. President Tinubu commended the tireless efforts of fathers in providing for their families and described them as the true pillars of society.

He called on all fathers to remain committed to positively influencing the destinies of the younger generation. As Father’s Day is observed, the President’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of a father’s role in fostering a strong and value-driven society.
