The National Assembly confirms that President Tinubu will not present the 2025 budget on Wednesday, addressing speculations about the anticipated event.

The National Assembly has denied social media claims that President Bola Tinubu will present the 2025 budget to a joint session on Wednesday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Dr. Ali Umoru, the Secretary of Research and Information at the National Assembly, dismissed the reports as false.

He encouraged the public to ignore the information, stressing that the legislative body still needs to approve the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which must come before presenting the national budget.

Umoru emphasized that all official communications concerning the National Assembly should be disseminated through its authorized channels and cautioned against spreading unverified or misleading information.

“The statement clarified that the rumor about presenting the 2025 budget tomorrow is false, as the required legislative procedures for budget presentation, including approval of the MTEF and FSP, are still in progress.”

He reaffirmed the National Assembly’s dedication to transparent governance and encouraged media outlets and individuals to verify information before publishing.

This development occurs as Nigerians eagerly anticipate the official release of the 2025 budget, anticipated to detail the government’s fiscal strategy and economic priorities for the upcoming year.

On Monday, the Senate Committee on Finance held meetings with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to finalize work on the MTEF/FSP.
