Tinubu names Zaccheus Adedeji as the FIRS’s acting chairman

Zaccheus Adedeji has been chosen to serve as the Federal Inland Revenue Service’s (FIRS) new interim executive chairman, and President Bola Tinubu has given his approval.

According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the President also instructed the former chairman of the FIRS, Mr. Muhammad Nami, to immediately begin taking the three months of pre-retirement vacation allowed by Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243.

The presidencies indicated that his eventual resignation from duty on December 8, 2023, would follow the pre-retirement vacation.

“Hon. Zacch Adedeji is hereby appointed in an interim capacity for a period of 90 days prior to his subsequent confirmation as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for an initial tenure of four (4) years.

“Hon. Zacch Adedeji earned his accounting degree with honours from Obafemi Awolowo University. Following honourable service tenure as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC), he most recently served the country as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue.

The announcement said that the new appointment “takes immediate effect in accordance with these directives of the President.”
