The engagement on Monday came after Tinubu’s Sunday return to his base in Abuja following a flurry of Sallah events in Lagos the previous week.
A delegation from Shell Petroleum Development Company was welcomed by President Bola Tinubu on Monday at the Aso Rock in Abuja.
Ms. Zoe Yunovic, the company’s Global Upstream Director, was in charge of the delegation representing Shell at the visit. Mar De Jong, Osagie Okunbo, and Peter Costello all joined her.
At the meeting were present Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, and Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President.
The President’s Special Energy Adviser, Olu Verheijen, the President’s Special Revenue Adviser, Zacchaeus Adedeji, and the President’s Special Communications, Special Duties, and Strategy Adviser, Dele Alake, are also present.

At the meeting, the president reaffirmed his government’s commitment to consistent policy and an improved business climate to draw investment.
Tinubu praised the company’s offer to make additional investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, stating that these investments are more important than ever to help the government fulfill its duties.
We are available for business. We’re not kidding. His spokesperson, Dele Alake, issued a statement that quoted him as saying, “I give you the assurance of consistency in policy.”
The President also said that his administration would eliminate any impediments that would prevent Nigeria from attracting foreign investment.

After taking office as Nigeria’s next president on May 29, 2023, the President traveled abroad for the first time on June 22, 2023.
Tinubu attended the New Global Financial Pact event at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, France, with world leaders such French President Emmanuel Macron.
The President left Nigeria after the two-day summit and traveled to London, the United Kingdom, for a “short private visit” before returning on June 28 and 29, 2023, for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, and the supreme ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, among others, were among the distinguished Yoruba monarchs with whom Tinubu visited during his five days in Lagos.
