According to his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu would leave Abuja for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday to attend the COP28 Climate Summit.
Tinubu will make a national statement at the world leaders’ summit, which will be held on December 1 and 2, 2023, with the theme “Unite, Act, and Deliver.” In it, he will stress Nigeria’s position on a number of thematic problems, such as climate finance and renewable energy.
Leading government representatives will accompany the President to the summit, which is also known as the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28), or the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference.

“Recalling developed countries of their public commitment to provide $100 billion annually for support to localised initiatives to address climate change-related challenges, President Tinubu will maximise the opportunity afforded by the platform to advocate increased financial and technical support for developing nations, mindful of the severe impact of climate change on Nigeria, including desertification, flooding, erosion, drought, and national security risks arising therefrom,” the statement partially stated.
“As a reflection of Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable and responsible practises, the President’s speech will also emphasise making institutions and corporations accountable.
“To implement Nigeria’s Energy Transition, Article 6 Projects, Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs), Technology Transfer, Capacity Building, and Methane Mitigation, the Nigerian delegation to COP28 will actively explore establishing new and deeper bilateral partnerships.”
The G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Conference was held in Berlin, Germany from November 18 to 22, and the President was there.
