President Bola Tinubu, along with Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, led Nigeria`s 64th Independence Day celebration on Tuesday.

The event, held at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was marked by a grand military parade and cultural displays.

The festivities commenced with President Tinubu`s arrival at 10 am, where he was greeted by pipers and conducted an inspection of the Quarter Guard mounted by the Guards Brigade.

The President then ascended the saluting dais, where he took the national salute, signifying the official start of the event.

One of the major highlights of the celebration was a ceremonial change of guards by the Nigerian Armed Forces, symbolizing the nation`s military pride. The Guards Brigade`s Silent Drill Platoon captivated attendees with a remarkable display of precision, leaving spectators in awe.

The event was attended by high-profile guests, including cabinet ministers, presidential aides, and members of the diplomatic corps, who witnessed a variety of unique performances. A combined mass band and a cultural troupe representing Nigeria`s six geopolitical zones showcased the country`s rich diversity through traditional music and dance.

The celebration reached its peak when President Tinubu signed the anniversary register, followed by a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony alongside Vice President Shettima, the National Assembly leadership, Service Chiefs, and other dignitaries. In a final gesture of hope and peace, pigeons were released into the air to mark the occasion.
