Tinubu issued an order for the removal of police personnel assigned to VIPs- Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim
President Bola Tinubu gave the order to withdraw police officers from Very Important Personalities, or VIPs, according to information revealed by the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.
According to Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the Ministry would carry out Tinubu’s directive, and part of its job is to modify the Nigerian Police Act.

This information was revealed by her at a 2-day retreat for directorate cadre in Abuja with the theme “Re: Envisioning the Ministry of Police Affairs for Effective Internal Security: Strengthening Administration and Management Functions for Resilience and Efficiency.”
The minister stated that the following are the main responsibilities of the Ministry of Police Affairs: creating and carrying out a harmonised police reform report, revising the Police Act, carrying out the President’s order to remove police officers from VIP security responsibilities, and creating a community policing plan.
These mandates are revolutionary projects that have the potential to improve Nigeria’s internal security rather than just being assignments.
The Nigeria Police Force, having been neglected for decades, is today facing a crucial moment that is impeding its ability to carry out its constitutional role.
Additionally unaffected is the Ministry of Police Affairs. Nonetheless, the Ministry is now in the lead role in the Police Transformation Agenda due to Mr. President’s dedication to changing the Nigeria Police Force, and it needs to step up to the plate.
“The Ministry has the heavy duty of establishing the necessary structures and coordinating efforts to lead the Nigeria Police Force towards enhanced operational and technical efficacy.
