A member of the House of Representatives describes President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s messiah, praising his leadership and reforms aimed at transforming the nation’s future.

On Wednesday, Hon. Leke Abejide, a representative for Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, referred to President Bola Tinubu as the savior Nigeria requires.

Abejide, appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” expressed confidence in Tinubu’s administration to transform the nation’s fortunes positively.

The lawmaker stated, “By 2026, everyone will appreciate the President as a transformative leader. He is currently the messiah Nigeria requires and has the ability to improve our nation.”

The lawmaker criticized President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for what he described as its poor management of the nation’s economy.

He stated that everything collapsed entirely, blaming the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), led by Godwin Emefiele, for overproducing currency.

Abejide, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is optimistic that Tinubu will lead the country out of its current difficulties.

During the final days of the previous administration, was it easy to have N1,000 in your pocket? We all know how much money the Central Bank printed. How can an economy sustain itself under such conditions? Who will take you seriously in that scenario?

“Things are improving. The exchange rate issue will be resolved over time. It’s better to face reality than to hide from it,” he added.

Bills on Tax Reform

During the show, Abejide shared his thoughts on President Tinubu’s controversial tax reform bill, stating that it would help reduce the Federal Government’s need for borrowing.

By examining the structuring within this tax bill, it becomes apparent that Nigeria’s borrowing levels are expected to decrease in the near future.

“We will reduce our reliance on borrowing to fund the budget and will have the means to finance infrastructure projects,” he added.

The bills have sparked controversy in certain areas, as the Northern Governors oppose them, arguing that they will disadvantage many states within the federation.

The tax reform bills advanced through their second reading in the Senate last Thursday and have now been forwarded to the Senate Committee on Finance, led by Niger East Senator Sani Musa, for additional legislative procedures. These steps include conducting a public hearing.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also instructed the committee to include the National Economic Council (NEC), Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), and Civil Society Organizations in the public hearing.
