Former Governor Sule Lamido accuses President Tinubu of withholding critical information from Nigerians, sparking political controversy.

President Bola Tinubu has faced accusations of lacking transparency regarding the actual condition of Nigeria during his tenure.

Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State and a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made this accusation during an appearance on BBC Hausa’s program Gane Mini Hanya.

Lamido expressed criticism towards both Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari, citing a lack of transparency in their governance.

“Buhari’s and Tinubu’s governments lack transparency with Nigerians, unlike the period when the PDP was in power, which was marked by openness and transparency accessible to all,” Lamido stated.

He alleged that both administrations depended on propaganda instead of delivering accurate information to the citizens.

Lamido also raised concerns about President Tinubu’s recent loan requests, questioning their rationale. He remarked, “If Nigerians are being told the truth, then there’s no issue with that. However, how do you budget N30 trillion, generate N50 trillion and still request a loan when you’re left with a surplus of N20 trillion?” referring to last year’s budget as an example.

He characterized the situation as “reckless” and “selfish,” stating, “Such recklessness and blatant selfishness is unprecedented globally, yet you still find some Nigerians endorsing it.
