Bola Tinubu has received congratulations from former head of the Nigerian military, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (ret. ), for being elected to lead the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In a press release from his media office, IBB, as he is more commonly known, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for overseeing an election that he predicted would usher in a new Nigeria.

Babangida also thanked Nigerians for turning out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote and picking Tinubu as the country’s new leader.

That this is taking place during my lifetime is a joyful thing. Tinubu is a capable candidate for the position, I can state with certainty. I’m confident Tinubu would do a good job as Nigeria’s president, the speaker remarked.

“For some of us who have been there before, I know there is still more work to be done, and I think Tinubu has what it takes to take Nigeria to the next level.

“As a country, we have a lot of potential. However, in order to maintain our status as Africa’s giant, we need to choose a wise course of action. Although we still have a ways to go, with perseverance and devotion, we can achieve our goals.

In addition, Babangida stated that Tinubu comes from a background as a performer who genuinely loves his people and understands how to fit a round peg into a round hole.

He appealed to other candidates to see the election of the former governor of Lagos as God’s will, noting that nation-building needed all hands on deck. Tinubu also urged Nigerians to join him in the process of fixing the country.

“Nigeria is in a good place right now; we must seize this opportunity to shape our own destiny. We cannot proceed in the same manner, and I am confident that God will restore things so that they benefit this nation once more, he continued.
