According to President Bola Tinubu’s spokesman, Dele Alake, security services are to find those responsible for the killings and mayhem in Plateau State.

The recent killings that took place among families in the Plateau’s Mangu Local Government Area and other areas of Benue State were harshly denounced by the President.

Tinubu added that the nation must stop the cycle of violence.

According to a statement released by Alake on Tuesday, the President said, “It is most unfortunate that in this orgy of violence, an innocent eight-month-old baby in Farin Lamba community of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government, died in a conflict she knew nothing about.”

The terrible loss of innocent life is always one of the most detrimental effects of ongoing conflict.

“To create thriving, tranquil, and prosperous communities, tolerance and forgiveness for every perceived wrongdoing are essential.”

The Arewa Consultative Forum, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, and Christian Association of Nigeria leadership were all urged by the President to cooperate in order to promote genuine and enduring peace.

The statement said, “While reiterating his government’s strong commitment to eradicating violent crimes and all other forms of criminalities throughout Nigeria, the President has directed security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous acts to face the full wrath of law.”

He also demanded that the emergency response organizations and the governments of the states of Plateau and Benue support and immediately aid those who have been displaced as a result of the clashes.
