Tinubu Heads to Saudi Arabia for Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Sunday

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is set to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Saudi Arabia this Sunday, aiming to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster cooperation on key issues. Learn more about his agenda for the summit.

On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu is set to depart from Nigeria to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit held in Saudi Arabia.

The event is set to commence in Riyadh on Monday, concentrating on the Middle Eastern situation. Tinubu will attend at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

According to a statement released on Saturday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to leave Abuja for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday. He will be attending the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit that will address the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

The Summit is set to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024. It is hosted at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and comes after last year’s summit in the same Saudi city.

At the summit, President Tinubu is anticipated to discuss the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, highlighting Nigeria’s firm demand for an immediate ceasefire and stressing the urgent necessity for a peaceful resolution.

During the event, Nigeria will promote reinvigorated initiatives to “revitalize the two-state solution as a route to enduring peace in the region,” Onanuga stated.

Tinubu’s trip to Saudi Arabia will include several other government officials in his entourage. Joining him are Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA); Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation; along with Mohammed Mohammed, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

“The presidential spokesman stated that President Tinubu will return to Abuja following the conclusion of the summit.”
