The COP28 Climate Summit, with the motto “Unite, Act, and Deliver,” is scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on December 1st and 2, 2023. President Bola Tinubu left Abuja on Wednesday for Dubai.
Spokesman for the president Ajuri Ngelale claims this.
“Recalling the developed countries’ public commitment to allocating $100 billion annually to support localised initiatives addressing climate change-related challenges, while also keeping in mind the severe impact of climate change on Nigeria, including desertification, flooding, erosion, drought, and risks to national security arising therefrom, President Tinubu will maximise the opportunity afforded by the platform to advocate for increased financial and technical support for developing nations,” the statement partially stated.
In line with Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable and ethical practises, the president’s speech will also emphasise keeping institutions and companies accountable.
A national declaration expressing Nigeria’s position on a number of thematic problems, such as renewable energy and climate financing, will be delivered by Tinubu at the world leaders’ summit, which will take place on December 1 and 2, 2023, with the subject “Unite, Act, and Deliver.”
He is anticipated to attend other events organised by the Nigerian delegation while in Dubai, as well as significant side events that will further advance his declared commitment to actively pursue foreign direct investment for increased wealth creation and revenue expansion in the nation.

He also told the National Assembly that the Nigerian team would try to leave COP28 with concrete promises and work towards achieving significant financing commitments that will support Nigeria’s energy transition. This information was given during the 2024 budget presentation.
