Senator Orji Kalu believed that the president is laying out his programme and demonstrating his readiness to run for office again in 2027 by appointing the ministers on his list.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received praise from former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu for his astute understanding of the socio-political climate in Nigeria, which the senator claims was demonstrated in the recently revealed ministerial list.
In a social media video post on his official Facebook page on Friday, Senator Kalu praised Tinubu’s prowess in Nigerian affairs and said he has demonstrated a profound awareness of the complexities and difficulties of the country’s democracy.
According to Kalu, the president has shown an ability to comprehend the diversity and geographic spread of Nigeria.
“I know many people will be complaining that some zones get more and some did not get more, yes, it is proper, the constitution requires that every state have one, but I appeal that he give south east one more to be able to have the sixth one that they used to have,”
“To be honest with you, the president’s cabinet selection has demonstrated that he will comprehend the core issues facing Nigerians. Tinubu has demonstrated a basic knowledge of political procedures.
Senator Kalu believed that by appointing a ministerial list, President Tinubu was indicating that he was prepared to seek for office once more in 2027.
In the meantime, Festus Keyamo and Dr. Mariga Mahmoud have been chosen by President Bola Tinubu to replace Maryam Shetty as a ministry nominee.
At Friday’s plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read aloud from a letter sent by the President, revealing this.
This happened just before the fourth round of screening began at 12:14 PM with former Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola assuming the podium.
Former governors Simon Lalong of Plateau, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara, and Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi are also on the list of candidates awaiting screening.
Others include Zaphaniah Jisalo, Aliyu Abdullahi, Bosun Tijani, Isiak Salako, Ibrahim Geidam, Lola John, Shuaibu Audu, Tahir Mamman, Aliyu Abdullahi, Alkali Saidu, Heineken Lokpobori, Maigari Ahmadu, and Abdullahi Gwarzo.
Shetty’s name was taken off the additional list of ministerial nominees, nevertheless.
