This decision was made in order to ensure stability and continuity during the ongoing process of repositioning the administrative structure of the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The extension was approved after the Head of Service, Atang Udo Samuel, reached the mandatory retirement age of sixty (60) years on the same day, March 27, 2024.
The approval for the extension of service was conveyed through a letter addressed to the Head of the Civil Service.
The letter, signed by the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi, stated that the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had graciously approved the extension.
The purpose of the extension is to provide stability and consolidate the ongoing processes of repositioning the administrative structure of the FCT Administration, which was necessitated by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The Minister also expressed his regards and appreciation in the letter.
It is worth noting that this extension of service comes after President Bola Tinubu had previously approved the appointment of a new Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries in the nine Secretariats of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, and other members of the FCT Civil Service Commission a few weeks ago.
This demonstrates the commitment of the government to ensure a smooth transition and effective functioning of the FCT Civil Service Commission.
