Rinsola Abiola, the daughter of the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, has been named Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership by President Bola Tinubu.
Rinsola announced this on Thursday, November 9, 2023, through a republished message on X, formerly known as Twitter.
She will collaborate closely with the Ministry of Youth’s leadership, per the post.
Abiola works in public relations and supports gender equality and youth. At the nexus of politics and civil society, she works to advance political literacy and civic education while advocating for greater participation of marginalised groups in governance and decision-making.
As a trailblazing member of the APC’s women’s and youth wings, Rinsola is an engaged party member. In addition, she was one of the three young delegates selected to the party’s Board of Trustees in 2015 and is a founding member of the organization’s young women’s movement.
Continuing her unwavering support for young women to be fully acknowledged as participants in the political youth movement, she created history in 2022 when she became the first female candidate for the APC National Youth Leader post.
Since taking office in May 2023, Tinubu has appointed Rinsola, the second of Abiola’s children.
In September 2023, Jamiu Abiola was designated as a Special Assistant (SA) with Special Duties.
Abiola, a US graduate of New York University, has been assigned by Vice President Kassim Shettima’s office to help the Tinubu-Shetimma-led administration fulfil the pledges made to Nigerian voters in the 2023 presidential election.

The multilingual Jamiu Abiola also has postgraduate degrees from New York University, where she specialised in translating languages into English, including Arabic, French, Spanish, and German.
Abiola speaks French, Portuguese, Yoruba, Hausa, Japanese, Igbo, Fulani, and Kanuri fluently in addition to these languages.
Interestingly, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has hired him on a freelance basis since 2015 to translate papers from French into English and to provide summaries of proceedings for council meetings and conferences.
In addition, he is a monthly translator of more than 50,000 words for the biggest translation agency in the world, with a focus on translating technical, financial, and patent documents after thorough examination.
Abiola is the director of indigenous growth and statutory compliance at Pilgrims Africa, a multinational security firm with more than 3,000 staff members and locations in more than 20 nations.
