The All Progressives Congress’ Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is running for president, has filed a legal action to thwart attempts by the opposition to delay the collation of results from Saturday’s presidential election.
Tuesday saw the filing of a lawsuit by the candidate and his party to enjoin the Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party from continuing to announce and compile the poll’s results.
When the case was submitted to the Federal High Court in Kano, it was designated FHC/KN/CS/43/2023.

Kashim Shettima, the APC vice presidential candidate, was listed as a plaintiff in addition to the Action Alliance and the Independent National Electoral Commission joining as defendants.
According to Daily Trust, the plaintiffs requested the court to issue an order restricting the defendants from preventing the results’ collation and announcement in a petition on notice filed together with the original summons.
Damages “would not fully compensate for the hurt that may be induced on the Plaintiffs if by the Defendants discontinue the collation of the result,” they claimed.
