President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the establishment of a committee that will examine the implementation of the new minimum wage for employees in Nigeria.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, conveyed this information in a letter addressed to Ambali Olatunji, an official of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC).
The letter, titled “Inauguration of the tripartite committee on National Minimum wage” and dated January 23, stated that the inauguration will occur at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja, precisely at 12.00 noon.
The SGF also mentioned that members should be seated by 11.30 am and a shuttle bus will be available at the pilot gate from 10.00 am to transport them to the venue.
For any inquiries, the Secretariat of the Committee in the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission can be contacted.
The letter concluded with warm regards from the SGF. It is important to note that despite Tinubu’s promise of a significant increase in monthly wages after the removal of petrol subsidy, the minimum wage for workers will remain at N30,000.
