President Bola Tinubu reportedly gave the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, the order to build 30 km of roads throughout the six FCT local councils.

The minister revealed this to reporters on Wednesday in Abuja after meeting with Mr Zakari Dobi, a former Senate candidate and former FCTA mandate secretary for transport, and Philips Aduda, a former PDP senator who represented the FCT in the 9th Assembly.

For the purpose of relieving strain on the Federal Capital City (FCC) and bringing development to rural towns throughout the six area councils, Wike proposed a proposal to build 30 km of highways, with five roads in each of the six area councils to be completed before May 29, 2024.

“President Bola Tinubu had ordered that at least five-kilometer roads be built in each of the six area councils before May 29,” he continued.

In order to make sure that residents of rural towns weren’t overlooked in the administration’s development initiatives, he stated, “this is part of his renewed hope agenda.”

The minister praised them for working as a team regardless of political party differences to work for the development of the FCT and pledged to periodically consult the visitors to acknowledge their contribution to developing the city. He also added that the FCT Administration would work with everyone who has something to offer.

Aduda had earlier stated that the visit was intended to thank President Tinubu for designating a resident of the FCT as a minister to promote the development of the FCT in the interest of all of its people as well as to congratulate Wike on his appointment and the excellent work he was carrying out.

“We are also here to commend you for the courageous step in creating the Civil Service Commission for FCT, removing FCT from TSA, and creating the Women Affairs Secretariat to address women’s concerns,” Aduda stated.
