The remaining female Federal University Gusau students were kidnapped by militants on Thursday, and President Bola Tinubu has ordered security forces to retrieve them.
On Sunday in Abuja, the president’s communications aide, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, said that Tinubu had denounced the abhorrent act of kidnapping.
The president, he said, had stated that there was no moral justification for such a horrible act against innocent victims, whose only “offence” was their pursuit of high-quality education.
The president reassured the relatives of the missing kids that every effort would be made to ensure their safe return.
Tinubu promised that the Federal Government would make sure that educational institutions remained havens of learning, development, and opportunity, completely free from the threatening actions of terrorists.
Around midnight on Thursday, robbers broke into three female student hostels at Sabon Gida, where students live away from the university’s main campus, and kidnapped an undetermined number of students.
Many female students were abducted, although some managed to escape.
